What You’ll Need:

Kinetic Recovery Rope: A high-stretch nylon rope designed to store and release kinetic energy smoothly (never use a static tow strap or chain for snatch recoveries).

Rated Bow Shackles or Soft Shackles: Heavy-duty, load-tested attachment points to connect your rope safely.

Optional Traction Boards: High-impact plastic recovery tracks to give your tires immediate bite under soft mud, silt, or sand.

Trail Shovel: A sturdy folding shovel to clear debris from in front of your tires and level out the trail path.
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Clear the Path First:
Stop spinning your tires—you'll only dig yourself deeper to the frame. Grab your shovel and dig out the mud or sand built up in front of all four tires to create a smooth, ramped exit path.

Optional: Place Traction Boards Under the Drive Wheels:
Wedge your traction boards firmly under the leading edge of the stuck tires. Make sure the tread teeth catch the tire rubber so the rig climbs onto the board rather than spinning over it.

Rig the Kinetic Line Correctly:
If using a support rig, attach your kinetic recovery rope directly to frame-mounted, factory-rated recovery points on both vehicles using rated shackles. Never hook onto a trailer ball, bumper, or suspension component.

Execute a Smooth Kinetic Pull:
Leave a slight S-curve slack in the kinetic rope. The recovery vehicle accelerates forward into clear ground; as the rope stretches, it builds tension and smoothly slingshots the stuck vehicle out of the rut without the violent, frame-snapping jerk of a static strap.

Drive Out and Reset:
Once the stuck vehicle breaks free, the driver should maintain momentum until reaching solid ground. Disconnect the rigging, clear the trail, and inspect all shackles and rope fiber for damage before moving on.

"Always throw a heavy winch dampener—or even a muddy floor mat or heavy canvas jacket—over the middle of your kinetic rope before pulling. If a shackle or recovery point fails under load, that weight drops the flying hardware straight to the dirt instead of sending it through someone's windshield!"
